In 1908, Elizabeth Arden came to New York and began experimenting with common things she used in her kitchen back home, mostly medicines, salves and herbs to develop beauty aids. Elizabeth Arden’s first products were sold in her salon, the door which she painted bright red to stand out from the surrounding businesses.
